Hot temps and county fairs…
by erin on Aug.09, 2009, under Friends, Just me, My Travels
I don’t know if it’s hot where you are, but here in the South it’s blazing. Today it’s 98 degrees with a heat index of 105…just miserable. Lucky for me I’ve gotten all my yard work done early in the mornings the last few days so I can stay in the air conditioning in the afternoons.
The last two weeks have been busy ones for me…work wise and fun personal stuff. I’ve done some traveling for work and have met some great new friends and I’ve had an opportunity to attend some county fairs during my travels. I’ve gone to a walking horse show, a truck pull (yes, I know it’s country, but it was a lot of fun), a demolition derby, and of course have taken in some of the carnival rides. Nothing like a little country fair fun to lighten your spirits.
Have any of you gone to the fair in your area this summer? Do you get into that kind of stuff?
I’ll be hitting the road again next week for more work / fun and I’m hoping for cooler temperatures so I can get out and walk around and enjoy the scenery.
Tonight I’m doing a movie marathon of the series The Librarian. I don’t really like Noah Wylie in anything else, but for some reason I do like him in those. I’m going to pile up on the couch with the dogs and a snack and turn the lights down and just veg. I make an awesome couch potato!
Hope you all had a good weekend and are gearing up for this coming week. Mondays always seem to come soooo fast.
Gloom, Despair and Agony on me…No, not really.

A friend once told me that I should have my own chartered jet for my travel. I told him, that I hate to fly and that I could never afford a private jet…now I wish I could win the powerball so I could buy one. I am a traveling fool lately and going by plane would certainly be faster then all the road miles I put on the caravan of cars that we all take to travel from location to location.
I’ve been to Louisville, Indy, Atlanta and am heading to Chicago, then Lexington, Nashville and finally back home. I should get to spend a total of 10 days home this month. It seems like the day or two here and there when I do make it home it storms…ughhhhhh!
Ever had those days when you wish you could retire and run away from it all? That’s the day I’m having today. I love what I do, but sometimes I just feel like I need a break from everything. Maybe what I need is a good vacation…!
Mother’s Day and movie madness

I think we’re all going to be washed off the face of the earth or buried in a mudslide…
Not really, but damn is it ever going to quit raining for more than an hour or two at a time. It’s so depressing with the clouds and rain, and scary with the storms and tornados and flooding. I’m ready for sun and it doesn’t have to be sunny everyday…I’m not greedy, but is 4 days a week too much to ask for? I’ve started going to the tanning booth, just for the light…ok and for the tan too, but mainly for the light…lol.
Now that I’m done bitching…for now…I want to give a very special thank you to my favorite Chicago resident who sent me an awesome Cubs care package. I’ve gotten great pleasure out of wearing my t-shirt and one of the jerseys already, and will definately plan to wear one when I come visit next. We’ll have to do the fashion show thing on the deck…see you soon.
I’m getting ready to hit the road again. It seems these days I’m away more than I’m at home, but with the economy being what it is I need to promote and be everywhere. Too bad I can’t clone myself and be in multiple places and then leave one copy of myself at home. Wouldn’t that be something that everyone could utilize?
Yesterday was Mother’s Day, so I hope you all remembered the special “Mom’s” in your life. I spent the day with mine and some other “mother” friends…lol. It was a good day and the sun did make a peak out for a few. Last night we went to see the new Star Trek movie, which I have to say is very good. If you’re not a Star Trek fan, you won’t get some of the subtleties, but if you are…you will appreciate the characters and get a kick out of where some of them got their start on the Enterprise. There were also some suprises that I wasn’t expecting. I don’t want to say too much for those who haven’t seen it, but I would definitely recommend it.
In the next couple of months there are several movies coming out that I can’t wait to see, like…Angels and Demons, Night at the Museum II, Iron Man II, Transformers, GI Joe, and I still haven’t seen X-Men Origins so I want to check that out too. Are there any movies you all are looking forward to?
Today, I have to venture outside while it’s not raining (just wet) and work on the yard. My flower garden needs attention, the grass needs cutting and I’m starting a small vegetable garden…so I’m off to the yard. Do a sun dance for me please…lol.
Distracted by March Madness
by erin on Mar.28, 2009, under Friends, Just me
Just a short entry today….
Doing stuff around the house and going to settle in with friends to watch the basketball games this afternoon and evening. The lovely weatherman is calling for possibilities for severe storms or even a chance of a tornado so we’ll be tied down inside with lots of snacks and drinks and may not come out until Monday morning. That would work for me!
Happy Weekend and Go March Madness!
St. Patrick’s Day weekend and Deja-vu
by erin on Mar.20, 2009, under Friends, Just me
I had a great time traveling and seeing special friends last week…you know who you are.
I spent St. Patrick’s Day weekend in Chicago and I can’t tell you how much green I saw…from the party favors, to the clothes, to the Chicago River and all the extremely drunk party goers that began very early and went very late into the night. I love to people watch and while I didn’t participate in the reveling myself I did enjoy watching everyone else. I had a great dinner at Hugo’s and a very relaxing evening!
I’m back home now and settling back into my routine…except for an unexpected video scene that worked it’s way into my day yesterday. It will be up on the site at some point, but it definitely made for an interesting morning/afternoon.
Today I had a deja vu flashback. I was in the kitchen working doing some baking and my power started to surge. It was on, then off, then on, then off again. I immediately called the electric company and they said they had received several calls and were dispatching a crew to determine the problem. I guess I was out for a little over an hour, and now things are back to normal. Luckily it’s a nice day today…the sun is out and it’s in the 60’s…but it did bring back memories of the ice storm last month. That’s something I would like to permanently forget.
This weekend I’m having some friends and family over to watch some March Madness and the NASCAR race at Bristol on Sunday. Are you keeping up with the basketball games? Check out my post in the “Sports Chat” area and we can talk about it more.
Ok…my to-do list is long and my day is short, so I’m off here. Have a fantastic weekend and don’t forget to post on the boards and shoot me an email from time to time. Some of you are good about staying in touch, but there are plenty of others that I never hear from.
Have a great weekend!
xoxo
